This Foundations course introduces students to the principles of composition, form, and Color Theory. The class also has a technical emphasis on digital photography and Photoshop. Through a series of formal exercises students evolve towards more independently developed projects that apply the principles learned.

In the second semester of Foundations, students are introduced to the basics of time-based media and sequential art. This class can have a particular theme and focus: I titled my thematic class Shifting Perspectives and we explored multipling points of view within a story. The second section Make 'em Laugh examines different kinds of humor in art.

Digital Foundations (Fall 2011)

This freshman class introduces students to Digital Art and Technologies, the principles of visual language, the digital workflow, photography, animation and graphic design applications.
Through a series of assignments and critiques, students learn to develop ideas and self-expression alongside Adobe image editing and animation software.
