By isolating and recording banal moments and gestures bordering on the absurd, I wished to draw attention to the uniquely odd emptiness of holidaying - the need to fill time with incessant activity, the discomfort and misunderstanding within families, collective rituals juxtaposed with solitary poses, and the protected, almost hermetic, setting where it all takes place.The title refers to places in collective imaginary geography such as Neverland or Wonderland, not to mention the all-pervasive land of Disney. It also happens to be the official title for the state of Maine... |
